  Norman Burns has more than 30 years' experience in the media, ranging from newspaper reporting (general news, features and sport) to sub-editing, layout, production and even as one of the first graphic news journalists in New Zealand.
  Norman spent seven years in Melbourne with Cybergraphic Systems (now part of Atex) as editorial analyst, "troubleshooter" and then in pre-sales, travelled a fair bit and saw a lot of newsrooms throughout the world.
  He has also worked for Infostrada Sports, of Holland, at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, Rugby World Cup 2003, 2005 West Asian Games, and at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics as a specialist "wire desk" subeditor.
  Since 2001, Norman has had stints at The West Australian, Sunday Herald Sun (Melbourne), as chief subeditor at Scoop Publishing and currently freelances for multiple publications and websites, including www.srilankafood.net and Box Magazine, plus regular weekend work on the Sunday Times sports desk.
  In 2010 he spent 3 weeks as a Sports Information Specialist for Infostrada Sports at the Delhi Commonwealth Games and five weeks as chief subeditor for the Asian Games News Service, run by Xinghua News Agency of China, in Guangzhou.
  In 2011 he spent three weeks' as chief subeditor for the World University Games News Service held in a very steamy Shenzhen.
  Outside of work, Norman's interests are the usual good stuff - food, entertaining, music, sport and travel - and, of course, time with his two young children, Aidan and Maya, and partner Julie.
